Bishop Weaver issues appeal for assistance following tropical cyclone

News is being received of the devastation that has swept across Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Malawi from Tropical Cyclone Idai. The extent of the disaster is still unfolding. Many are suffering great loss of life, homes, and property. By supporting the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) that is already working to bring immediate aid, the Virginia Conference can assist  those impacted by this disaster.

Bishop Peter D. Weaver is asking Virginia Conference churches to pray and receive a special offering this Sunday, March 24 (or in the near future) for Mozambique Cyclone Recovery. The offering may be mailed to the Virginia Conference Treasurer, PO Box 5606, Glen Allen, VA 23058. Click here to read Bishop Weaver's letter (pdf).
