Amanda Miller Garber, RISE UMC

RISE is a community rooted in God's risk-taking love, life-changing grace, passionate outreach and open-armed acceptance. We believe God has a dream of mending all of creation and we are a part of the dream. We live into that dream by connecting with the pain and hope of our community and often, that's where we bump up against Jesus.

We launched on September 12, 2010. We outgrew our first location shortly after launch and currently meet in a 260-seat theater. In 2011, our average attendance at worship was 125 and we had 1500+ students and young adults participate in mission events. The community is vibrantly alive, growing, and we're continually seeking out how we can continue to live into God's dream.

As a community made up primarily of college students and young adults, stewardship is join to be a constant struggle for us. In addition, due to the nature of our community, leadership is going to be transient and so we're constantly praying for God to send us capable leaders and also to help us develop them.
