Help after Disasters: Early Response Training
Hurricane Florence's impact will likely require disaster response from Virginia UMCs, whether in Virginia or assisting North Carolina. Steve Cass, Virginia Conference UMCOR trainer, will lead a disaster response training session for Early Response Teams (ERT) on September 29thHelp after Disasters: Early Response TrainingHurricane Florence reminds us of the need to help others affected by disasters. United Methodist Early Response Teams (ERT) provide a caring Christian presence to storm and disaster victims. Training provides the opportunity to respond if your schedule allows. Teams provide many types of help. Response is local or regional for three days. Training is beneficial even if you do not participate on a team.  A desire to help, caring for others, a willingness to learn and ability to follow directions are the primary qualifications.  No one needs to be strong or skilled to do this work -- giving TLC, cleaning up, preparing for repairs --  most of us can do this with training and on-site guidance. Trainees will be required to undergo an online background check at the end of the class, there is a small fee.
Fee:  $35
Light breakfast and lunch provided.
