Madeline Pillow named Communications director

Madeline Pillow, who currently serves as editor of the Virginia United Methodist Advocate, has officially been named Virginia Conference Communications director as of Jan. 1, 2017.

Pillow was named interim director of Communications for a four-month time period beginning Sept. 1, 2016, following Linda Rhodes' retirement. The decision was formalized by the Common Table Personnel Committee.

In her role, Pillow will maintain her duties as editor as well as oversight and direction of the work of the Communications office, shape and implement communication of news and information from the Virginia Conference and the larger United Methodist Church, manage external media relations, provide resources to help local churches use communications tools to grow their churches including Rethink Church and serve as primary staff resource for the Conference Board of Communications.

Pillow said she is honored by the trust that has been placed upon her by the Common Table Personnel Committee and will “strive to maintain the office’s focus of ministry, witness and role as a resource to the Virginia Conference.”
