Monday Morning, June 14Monday morning's conference session opened with worship led by the Rev. Stephen Bauman, this year's conference preacher. He is currently senior pastor of Christ Church United Methodist, New York City. Monday morning's sermon was "Abundance." Bishop Pennel officially opened the conference session and asked the Rev. Walter Lockett to lead in prayer. This is the Rev. Lockett's 72nd continuous conference he has attended. After adopting several reports, including the Committee on Rules, Conference Treasurer, Conference Foundation, and Retired Clergy Housing, a report was given by the Virginia Conference delegation that attended General Conference in Pittsburgh in May. |
