Why Should I Become a Partner in Healing?
One out of four families is affected by mental illness. Of the persons who have a mental illness, 15 percent by suicide. Suicide is the third leading cause of death among teenagers. When this illness strikes a person of faith, the first place they turn for help is to their rabbi or pastor. A congregation can provide support and nurture to persons with mental illness and their families, through visitation, affirmation, and prayer. A congregation can help shepherd members who have a mental illness toward the abundant life God offers to all.
