E-mail Denise Honeycutt

My name is J. Denise Honeycutt. I am the conference Director of Mission and Global Outreach for the Virginia Conference I also serve as the staff person for the Commission on the Status and Role of Women.

I am an enthusiastic follower of Jesus Christ and ordained elder in the Virginia Conference.

As an ordained elder in the Virginia Conference I have served in a variety of ministry settings including Mission Interpreter for the Southeast Jurisdiction. As a missionary with the General Board of Global Ministries I was the dean of students and taught theology and biblical studies at Banyam Theological Seminary in Bambur Nigeria, West Africa. Before going as a missionary I served as pastor on the Lynchburg District.

I completed the Two Year Academy of Spiritual Formation and feel strongly that all our mission work must begin with our own spiritual groundedness in Christ. I recently completed my Doctor of Ministry work in the area of Spiritual and Story.

I have a passion for mission, spiritual formation, women’s issues and the care of God's creation. I enjoy storytelling, reading and hanging around the back yard where Pat, my husband, tends our organic garden. I am a native of Locust, North Carolina.
