Health Kits contain: one hand towel, one washcloth, one comb, one metal nail file or nail clipper, one bar of soap (bath size), one toothbrush, one tube of toothpaste (4 to 7 ounces), and six Band-Aids. Seal all items in a one-gallon plastic bag with a zipper closure. Alternatively, a donation of $12 will allow CWS to provide a health kit.
School Kits contain: one pair of blunt scissors, pads or notebooks of ruled paper approximately 81/2x11-inches (containing 150-200 sheets of paper), one 30-centimeter ruler (12 inches), one pencil sharpener, six new pencils with erasers, one large eraser, 12 sheets of colored construction paper, one box of 24 crayons, and one 12x14-inch cloth bag with cloth handles and a closure (Velcro, snap, or button). Pack these items in the cloth bag and secure contents with the closure. A donation of $11 will also allow CWS to buy the supplies and assemble the kit.
Baby (Layette) Kits contain: six cloth diapers, two shirts, two washcloths, two gowns or sleepers, two diaper pins, one sweater or sweatshirt, and two receiving blankets (one can be knitted). Wrap the items in one of the receiving blankets and secure with diaper pins. A donation of $35 to CWS will also provide a layette kit.
Complete kits should be packed in boxes with only one type of kit in each box. However, if your church has a small number of different kinds of kits, they can be combined in one box. Clearly mark the outside of the box with the contents. Include the name and address of the church sending the kits at the top BEFORE sealing the box. (Do not include money in the box.) Secure the boxes with packing tape. Bring a sheet of paper marked with the number of kits of each type you are donating. Participants are asked to add $1 per kit for processing/shipping. Bring checks, made payable to “Conference Treasurer,” earmarked “Church World Service Kits #952.”
