About the Logo

Logo by Christina Suerdieck, district program coordinator, Alexandria District.

This year’s annual conference theme is "Transformed and Scattered: Christ’s Ambassadors in the World." It explores the "transformed" aspect of the conference vision statement: We envision churches where all God’s people are welcomed at table, nurtured, and transformed to be Christ to others in the world.

The second letter to the Corinthians, chapters 4 and 5, is a testament to the transformative power of God in Christ Jesus on human lives.  The life of Jesus is made visible in our bodies.  Our inner nature is being renewed day by day.  If anyone is in Christ, there is new creation . . . everything has become new!  However, transformation is not the goal in and of itself.  Rather, transformation empowers us to be ambassadors for Christ.

This year’s logo depicts the natal star of Jesus intersecting with the “Jerusalem Cross” which symbolizes the spread of the Gospel to the farthest reaches of the earth.  Each segment also serves to remind us that we are transformed through God’s Word, the Waters of Baptism, the working of the Holy Spirit and the sharing of the Bread and Cup at the Lord’s Table.  Therefore, as a whole, we are reminded of fullness of the Christian life from our beginning to life eternal.
