Board of Discipleship

The Board of Discipleship, in cooperation with the General Board of Discipleship and the Annual Conference Council on Ministries, develops programs which will assist districts and local churches in their efforts to win persons as disciples of Jesus Christ.

This involves helping these persons grow in their understanding of God so that they may respond in faith and love, to the end that they may know who they are and what their human situation means, increasingly identify themselves as children of God and members of the Christian community, to live in the spirit of God in every relationship and to fulfill their common discipleship in the world. The mission of the board is carried out through four divisions, working together to provide vision, leadership development, models, and printed resources that will undergird and strengthen the efforts of local churches and districts to make disciples for Jesus Christ. For the past several years, there has been a marked sense of vitality as the entire board works together to faithfully and effectively fulfill its mission. Each of the divisions has discussed and formulated a vision for its work that reflects the purpose mandated to the conference board. The responsibility of each of the four divisions is as follows:

The Division of Education works to strengthen the church’s teaching ministries in all of our local churches.

The Division of Evangelism seeks to help congregations share the knowledge and love of the living Christ with those who do not know the love of God through Christ and especially with those who are unchurched.

The Division of Spiritual Formation provides resources and events designed to enhance spiritual growth.

The Division of Worship strives to make worship a vital and meaningful experience in every local church and at our conference gatherings.

The leadership of the Board of Discipleship and related conference staff are available to local churches and districts to assist with their needs. You may call leaders and related staff for more information.
