Marc Brown, Director of Connectional Ministries

E-mail Marc Brown

Welcome to the office of the Director of Connectional Ministries.  The Discipline characterizes the work of this office as serving as the “steward of the vision” of the annual conference, charged with aligning the total resources of the conference with its vision, and with enabling the “connections among the local, district, annual conference, and general church ministries.”  I work as a team with Bev Myers, administrative assistant of this office, who began her ministry with the United Methodist Center in July 2005.

A native of Virginia, I am an elder in the Virginia Conference with a bachelor’s degree from Radford University and a Master of Divinity from Wesley Theological Seminary.

I have served appointments in the Virginia Conference since 1977.  My appointments have included pastoral appointments to Buckroe Beach (Peninsula District), Trinity Associate (Richmond District), Toms Brook-Mt. Olive Circuit (Winchester District), Emmanuel (Charlottesville District), and Thalia (Norfolk District).  I served for seven years as district superintendent of the Richmond District and began my appointment as Director of Connectional Ministries in July 2008.

My wife, Beverly, is an elementary school teacher in the Henrico County school system.  We have two children – Ginny (married to Bryan) and Adam, and two grandchildren Abby and Brady.
