Hurricane Gustav Response

September 4, 2008:  After contacting conference coordinators and other contacts on the ground, the Southeastern Jurisdiction UMVIM office has learned that the areas affected by Hurricane Gustav are still accessing their needs at this point, as many areas are still without power. Though the hurricane weakened before hitting landfall, it is clear that there is still some serious damage. UMVIM Conference Coordinators in Louisiana and Mississippi have asked UMVIM volunteers to give them several days before they start receiving calls, and urged volunteers NOT to go to this area at this time. We will post updates to the website, including contact information for the affected Conferences, as more information is received.
