Description

Casa actively supports and works for a just and sustainable society by creaing opportunities for the participation if socially and economically marginalized sections in the development process through networking, alliance building and strengthening of their organization. CASA also supports local self-governance, peace and reconciliation and sustainable livelihood measures and responds to the environmental issues, natural and manmade disasters and strives to bring the victims to the mainstream while upholding the human dignity. CASA promotes gender mainstreaming at all appropriate levels, mobilizes resources in favour of the poor and optimizes all potentials and capacities existing within the organizations and other partners.

The main objectives of the programme are:
1. To promote and support sustainable development initiatives which ensure livelihood.

2. Facilitating ownership of the development process by the poor and shift of power, responsibilities and decision-making to PO's their members and forums (including partners forums).

3. To promote self-reliance and sustainability among the poor and their organizations through access and control over resources.

4. To mainstream environmental concerns with people' organizations and other stakeholders.

5. To promote gender mainstreaming (internally as well as externally) with partners and other stakeholders.

6. To support for perspective building and capacity enhancement of different stakeholders, i.e. partners, churches and staff.

7. To strengthen and facilitate issue based networks, movements and right-based collective actions.

8. To respond to natural and man induced disasters, promote local coping mechanism and integrate relief and rehabilitation with long-term development endeavours.

9. To institutionalize and share the rich experience of CASA with Partners and learn from them.

10. To strengthen local self-governance.

11. To institutionalize and operationalize PME in CASA.

12. To promote interfaith dialogue for Peace and Reconciliation and promote peaceful coexistence.

13. To enhance the participation of Churches, like-minded NGO's and financial institutions in the development endeavour of CASA.

The overall goal of CASA Core programme is "Empowerment of poor and marginalized."
