An ecumenical, cooperative, local outreach ministry that provides Bible study and material assistance to residents in a rural, mountainous area of the state.
Description
McDowell Mission's purpose is to witness to hope in the risen Christ by empowering churches to be in mission cooperatively, ecumenically, and locally to meet needs in this rural mountainous area of Southern West Virginia. The Mission provides emergency assistance in the areas of food, clothing, and household items. Items needed to care for infants and children are provided especially for teenage mothers. Volunteers provide home repairs and Bible schools during the summer. The mission provides classes for enrichment, adult literacy, parenting skills, camping, daycare, children's mobile library and opportunity for local youth to work with volunteers.
