Sometimes change is good.  But effectiveness is better.  So, what are we doing now to help congregations develop leadership for growth?

Healthy Congregations and Bridge Builders -- A supreme example is the awesome work of Jeff Butcher and the Healthy Congregations and Bridge Builder programs.  These two ministries address a critical need for healthy congregations wanting to be healthier, or congregations that need special support to address conflict.

Clergy Leadership Development -- Another example is LDI's partnership with the Board of Ordained Ministry.  Their collaborative effort, called Clergy Development, provides specialized training opportunities in leadership development for elders, deacons in full connection, probationary members, certified professionals, and full- and part-time local pastors.

Specialty Leadership Training – The LDI partnered with several other boards and agencies in 2006 to study the leadership needs among lead pastors of large churches.  An ongoing large church lead pastor initiative will focus on this important segment of our Conference.  In addition to these efforts on behalf of our largest conference churches, the LDI is also preparing to sponsor a special training retreat to address the leadership needs of clergy and laity of our medium sized, multi-staff churches.
