The following is the letter to be mailed to conference members from the Rev. O.H. Burton Jr. concerning housing information.
Dear Virginia Conference Members:
Greetings! The Peninsula District is again glad to be your host. This year’s Virginia Conference will be held at the Hampton Coliseum, June 11-14, 2006.The Virginia Conference Committee has been working hard since last year’s conference to ensure that you will have both an enjoyable and meaningful time. The Embassy Suites will serve as the conference headquarters. You will again make your own housing reservations.Follow the simple steps as outlined below:
Make your 1st and 2nd choice of the hotel/motel where you would like to stay from the list (open link to the left for the list) and check the rates and find the location on the map.
Have your entire information ready before you call, including the names and number of persons staying in the room, any special needs, and method of payment.
Call only the phone numbers on the Conference Housing Brochure.Do not use an 800-reservation service - call the hotel/motel in Hampton directly.
Identify yourself as a member of the Virginia Conference United Methodist Church to receive the designated rates.Be sure to write down your confirmation number.
Also check the Virginia Advocate for other important information and the schedule for shuttle bus times between the coliseum and the Holiday Inn during the Conference. Please note there is no camping on the coliseum grounds.Your district office can answer any questions that you may have concerning per diem payments if you are a district member at-large.Remember to attend the Annual Conference Orientation Session in your district.
Please make your reservations as soon as possible. If you need to cancel your reservations, you must do so by the reservation deadline. If you need to cancel after the deadline, please contact me immediately.
If you have any housing problems during the annual conference, go to the Visitor Bureau Welcome Table at the coliseum and they will direct you to someone who can assist you.Should you need help or have any questions, I can be contacted at Tabernacle United Methodist, 831 Poquoson Avenue, Poquoson, VA 23662, or please call me personally at 757-868-6842 or e-mail at ohb.tum@cox.net. I hope you have a great conference.
