Survey of Clergy Effectiveness: A self-initiated assessment to be completed at a time selected by the clergyperson separate from appointment and salary decisions. For the best results, the assessment is recommended after at least one year in an appointment and then every three to five years.
The purpose is to provide feedback from relevant others, chosen by the clergyperson, in order to develop a plan for professional growth. The process involves completing a survey, based on the Virginia Conference Standards for Clergy Leadership. The surveys are submitted anonymously through a web site, and the data are used to generate a report that outlines areas of strength and areas for growth in relation to the Virginia Conference Standards for Clergy Leadership. The report is seen only by the clergyperson receiving feedback and is shared at the clergyperson’s discretion.
Ministerial Education Funds can be used to pay the cost of this assessment. Coaching sessions are offered twice a year to assist in developing a plan for professional growth.
