Questions and Answers about the Virginia Conference Media Center

What is it?
A resource library of videos and DVDs available to anyone in a local United Methodist church for programs or to view individually.  It is operated by Virginia United Methodist Communications, Inc., and is a service not only to the local church but also to districts and conference agencies.

Does it cost anything?
Churches may join on an annual basis or rent per resource.  The fees are based on the total membership of the church as reported in the most recent Journal of the Virginia Annual Conference.  It is on a sliding scale with a church with 100 or less members paying only $10 per year to the highest of 1000+ members of $70 per year.  Rental fees are $7.50 -$10.  All new resources are offered to MEMBERS first and then to others when the activity slows.  The time frame may be months before it is offered to non-members.

How long does it take to become a member?
As soon as the membership form is completed and sent in with the appropriate amount, it is entered into the computer. When someone from the church calls, it automatically comes up as being a member and resources may be ordered.

How many may I order at one time?
Resources are scheduled for specific dates so we will know when they will be used and returned for the next person.  If the date you request is available, unlimited items may be ordered.  Everything must be returned on time as other churches may have programs scheduled immediately after your use.

How do I get a listing of the resources?
The last complete catalog was distributed to all churches in 2002-2003.  Supplement pages are available which brings the catalog up to date of the most recent resources.  The catalog will be available online in the near future with the capability to also order resources.  Please call for supplement pages or the catalog.
