Description: To continue to enable persons to share their faith in Jesus Christ through the utilization of each individual's skills and gifts in hands-on mission activities in a global context. The theme is "Christian Love Action", which will be to expand the awareness of local congregations about the opportunities available for short-term mission service through United Methodist Volunteers in Mission, and to increase participation by the members of the the United Methodist Church in short-term volunteer mission activities. Activities include the following: 1. To facilitate the placement of Volunteers in Mission teams in the United States and abroad with construction teams, medical teams, and disaster response teams. 2. To develop within the Southeastern Jurisdiction two "first response" teams, fully self- contained, to assist UMCOR as needed, when a disaster occurs within the jurisdiction. 3. To coordinate the placement of individual volunteers with appropriate projects. 4. To expand the incorporation of UMVIM experience as a mode of service for college and youth teams. 5. To form an Aviation Fellowship whose members would assist with the work of volunteers in anyway possible. 6. To utilize the resources of the Internet, as a tool for persons seeking to serve the church as volunteers. COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION: Money, Materials, Labor and Leadership
