The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) is an extension of God’s love, sharing the compassion of Christ wherever God’s people are in need. In fact, UMCOR’s current ministries — aiding refugees, providing relief in disaster areas, and confronting the challenge of world hunger and poverty — are helping to heal the hurts of humanity in more than 100 countries.

Established in 1940 as the "Methodist Committee for Overseas Relief" to respond to the horrific violence of World War II, UMCOR is now an integral part of the United Methodist denomination through the General Board of Global Ministries. Wherever the peoples of the world are faced with earthquakes, famine, floods, tornadoes, or tsunamis, UMCOR is there to rebuild the devastated lives of broken people, helping them to know the warmth of God’s embrace.
