GLOBAL JUSTICE VOLUNTEERS The program is designed to enable young adults who are 18-30 years old to have short-term experiences living and learning along side people whose lives are shaped by justice work. The program provides opportunities for cross-cultural exposure, learning, and service. Through this program, a space is created for individuals who are willing to make short-term commitments to mission and who desire to explore the links between faith and justice. BISHOP W.T. HANDY YOUNG ADULT MISSIONERS Young adults serving through a new program that places them in two-year full-time service assignments worldwide. The program includes the option of serving additional terms through age 30.
SUMMER INTERNS The Summer Intern Program is a 10-week internship program for college students sponsored by the General Board of Global Ministries. The purpose of the program is to provide mission leadership training opportunities for young adults through internships in General Board of Global Ministries related agencies. The Summer Interns will have a variety of skills, backgrounds and experiences but in general they all come as novices. Projects planning to work with the Summer Intern must develop job descriptions and supervisory plans for interns. Mission Personnel Program Area staff will closely review placement applications to see if they include clear expectations and support plans, indicating an understanding of the needs as well as potential of Summer Interns. TIME FOR GOD Young adults aged 18-25 participating in an ecumenical program based and administered in the United Kingdom, in which they are encouraged to explore and grow in the Christian faith through a one-year program of service, teaching, learning, and developing in settings such as community centers, clinics, shelter, and schools.
US-2 PROGRAM The US-2 Program is a leadership development experience through peace with justice missions for young adults (20-30 years old). This two-year opportunity to serve in the United States encourages its participants to deepen their faith while learning from and serving with community based organizations. US-2's will boldly re-examine their role and participation in society as they struggle with hunger, homelessness, HIV/AIDS, illiteracy, children at risk, substance abuse, racism, domestic violence, and inadequate health care. YOUNG ADULT MISSION INTERN PROGRAM The Mission Intern Program is a leadership development and social justice opportunity for young adults (20-30 years old). The three-year program is divided into a 16-month international work/study assignment and a 16-month action/education assignment in one's own country. It is an opportunity for young people to hear the prophetic voice of communities and individuals around the world who are working for systemic change and to apply that experiential learning to their home context. The program encourages participants to learn about and live out the transformative gospel of Jesus Christ while working as grassroots organizers and/or advocates in areas of conflict resolution, peace, education, environmental justice, economic development, indigenous rights, and women's and children's issues.
