Virginia Clergy Leadership Program (VCLP)

The Clergy Effectiveness Team is making plans for Cohort VII (2024). Applications are now being accepted through December 1, 2023.

This program is rooted in the understanding and practice of leadership in Christ so that clergy will be radically open to the transformational power of God in their lives and their practice of ministry.

Believing that fruitful clergy leadership is grounded in deep spiritual maturity, participants will be able to:

  • Develop the interpersonal and leadership perspectives and skills to actualize missional potential in their faith
  • Sharpen vocational competencies in mission, disciple making, and worship leadership and preaching.

Cohort Selection

All VAUMC clergy who are ordained deacons or elders, associate members, or licensed local pastors who have completed their educations are eligible to apply. Those who are participating in another ongoing cohort program such as a DMin, a post-grad program, or are in the Provisional process should delay their participation in the VCLP until the other programs are completed. Spaces are limited in this cohort, and selections will be made based on how well the program can meet applicants’ stated goals and a balance of experiences within the group. The Center for Clergy Excellence will also secure your DS’s approval of your participation in the cohort. You are expected to consult with your S/PPRC, if applicable, to secure approval for being in residence on the dates below as a part of this program.

Cohort VII Schedule

Sessions will mostly be held at the Roslyn Conference and Retreat Center in Richmond, VA (www.roslyncenter.org), with one presentation on Zoom, and three cohort Zoom sessions. Participation is expected at all sessions for all cohort members. Please note in your application comments whether you would be unavailable for any part of one of these sessions.
