District Training Events
Information is posted about Lay Servant Ministries training opportunities on the district level as it is received.  Individuals can participate in learning opportunities on any district. Most courses are generally held in the spring and fall.  You may want to check individual district websites and newsletters for course availability.

Winchester District, September 26-27, 2014
Braddock Street United Methodist Church, 115 Wolfe Street, Winchester, VA
Friday, September 26 ~ Registration: 6:30 - 7:00 p.m.; Classes: 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
AND Saturday, September 27 ~ Registration: 8:00 - 8:30 a.m.; Classes: 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Fee: $20.00 (includes lunch)
Anyone who wishes to become a Lay Servant MUST attend their sessions onFriday AND Saturday.  Anyone who has not had training in the last 3 years and wishes to remain a LayServant MUST attend their course sessions on Friday AND Saturday.  It is critical to register for the course of your choice far enough in advance so thatyou can order and have read the text for that course. Ordering information is listedwith each class.

BeADisciple.com hosts online courses which have been approved by the General Board of Discipleship as advanced courses in Lay Servant Ministries.BeADisciple.com is one of several programs of the Institute for Discipleship at Southwestern College, a United Methodist institution in Winfield, Kansas. Several of the courses also offer 1 CEU for clergy and other staff.  You can find upcoming LSM courses on the www.beadisciple.com website as well as studies through The Upper Room, courses from the YouthWorker Movement, and Safe Sanctuaries training.
