2014 Lay Servant Academy, Feb. 21-23, 2014
Mark your calendars and plan to attend the Virginia Conference Lay Servant Academy on February 21-23, 2014, at Blackstone Conference and Retreat Center. The Academy will follow the 2014 Annual Conference theme of "Lord, Renew Us with Your Spirit." Basic, advanced, and mini-courses will prepare lay servants for their ministries of caring, leading, and communicating. Through these roles, Lay Servants encourage, equip, and support others for deeper commitment to Christ and to faithful discipleship. District Training Events
Information is posted about Lay Servant Ministries training opportunities on the district level as it is received. Individuals can participate in learning opportunities on any district. Most courses are generally held in the spring and fall. You may want to check individual district websites and newsletters for course availability.
BeADisciple.com hosts online courses which have been approved by the General Board of Discipleship as advanced courses in Lay Servant Ministries. BeADisciple.com is one of several programs of the Institute for Discipleship at Southwestern College, a United Methodist institution in Winfield, Kansas. Several of the courses also offer 1 CEU for clergy and other staff. You can find upcoming LSM courses on the www.beadisciple.com website as well as studies through The Upper Room, courses from the YouthWorker Movement, and Safe Sanctuaries training.
