District and Conference Training Opportunities

On Demand Online Training

Lay Servant Ministries is offering a series of six On Demand Learning courses. You may attend the live events 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Virginia United Methodist Center in Glen Allen for free, or pay $30 to watch online from your own computer during a 90-day period to receive your certification. October 8-"Preaching" led by the Rev. Jonathan Page of Fieldstone UMC

District Training Events

Information is posted about Lay Servant Ministries training opportunities on the district level as it is received. Individuals can participate in learning opportunities on any district. Most courses are held in the spring and fall. You may want to check individual district websites and newsletters for course availability.

Saturday, Sept. 24, at Asbury United Methodist Church. Hours are: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. and 2 hours
Nov. 13 at the District Conference. Cost is $15. Courses offered: Basic, Leading Worship and Life in the Wesley Tradition.

BeADisciple.com hosts online courses which have been approved by the General Board of Discipleship as advanced courses in Lay Servant Ministries.BeADisciple.com is one of several programs of the Institute for Discipleship at Southwestern College, a United Methodist institution in Winfield, Kansas. Several of the courses also offer 1 CEU for clergy and other staff.  You can find upcoming LSM courses on the www.beadisciple.com website as well as studies through The Upper Room, courses from the YouthWorker Movement, and Safe Sanctuaries training.
